Prosperity comes when society respects the dignity of each person and his or her right to act as a moral agent. We believe individuals must see themselves as the active agents they are, and not passive victims. Rodr\u00edguez was thinking about what to do next. He was transitioning from PACIV, the international engineering firm serving the biopharmaceutical manufacturing sector he founded in 1997, after he moved out of the position of president. Jorge knew that his next endeavor should be one that would benefit his homeland, Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n<p>After analyzing various options, he decided, along with his founding fellows at ILE, that the establishment of a free market think-do tank in Puerto Rico should be his next project. As a result, Jorge now dedicates most of his time, effort, and resources to ILE. In 2020, Jorge was awarded an Advanced Leadership Initiative (ALI) fellowship from Harvard University. ALI focuses on educating and preparing established leaders in the society to tackle the world\u2019s societal challenges, within their next career stage. During his time as an ALI fellow (2020-2021), Jorge developed and presented as his final project, the establishment of a free market think-do tank, called Puerto Rico Institute for Economic Liberty; and, at the same time, he academically prepared himself in the areas and topics on which the Institute will be working.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row full_width=\"stretch_row\" content_placement=\"middle\" el_class=\"about-row-1\"][vc_column width=\"1\/2\"][vc_single_image image=\"863\" img_size=\"full\"][\/vc_column][vc_column width=\"1\/2\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4>Our Story (continued)<\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The idea of ILE arose among entrepreneurs and leaders of the private sector with a serious concern around the lack of understanding and appreciation of free market-based principles, as a solution to attend to the socio-economic challenges Puerto Rico faces. With this came a recognition that there was a glaring need for an institution that would take the road less traveled to defend economically sound public policies. Our belief is that a free market think-do tank based on the school of thought of classic liberalism is the lever to move Puerto Rico forward, using evidence-based and academically sound research to Philosophy<\/h4><p>At ILE, we believe individual liberties, the rule of law, property rights, and an effective and limited government, sustain a healthy market economy which offers the greatest opportunity of freedom and prosperity for all. Prosperity comes when society respects the dignity of each person and his or her right to act as a moral agent. We believe individuals must see themselves as the active agents they are, and not passive victims. Rodr\u00edguez was thinking about what to do next. He was transitioning from PACIV, the international engineering firm serving the biopharmaceutical manufacturing sector he founded in 1997, after he moved out of the position of president. Jorge knew that his next endeavor should be one that would benefit his homeland, Puerto Rico.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nAfter analyzing various options, he decided, along with his founding fellows at ILE, that the establishment of a free market think-do tank in Puerto Rico should be his next project. As a result, Jorge now dedicates most of his time, effort, and resources to ILE. In 2020, Jorge was awarded an Advanced Leadership Initiative (ALI) fellowship from Harvard University. ALI focuses on educating and preparing established leaders in the society to tackle the world\u2019s societal challenges, within their next career stage. We believe individuals must see themselves as the active agents they are, and not passive victims. Rodr\u00edguez was thinking about what to do next. He was transitioning from PACIV, the international engineering firm serving the biopharmaceutical manufacturing sector he founded in 1997, after he moved out of the position of president. Rodr\u00edguez estaba pensando qu\u00e9 hacer a continuaci\u00f3n. Viv\u00eda una transici\u00f3n luego de dejar el cargo de presidente de PACIV, la firma internacional de ingenier\u00eda que brinda servicios al sector de manufactura biofarmac\u00e9utica fundada por \u00e9l en 1997. Jorge sab\u00eda que su pr\u00f3ximo emprendimiento deb\u00eda ser uno que beneficiara a su patria, Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de analizar varias opciones, decidi\u00f3 junto a sus compa\u00f1eros fundadores de ILE, que el establecer un centro de pensamiento de libre mercado en Puerto Rico ser\u00eda su pr\u00f3ximo proyecto. Como resultado, Jorge dedica ahora la mayor parte de su tiempo, esfuerzo y recursos a este nuevo emprendimiento. En 2020, Jorge recibi\u00f3 una beca Advanced Leadership Initiative (ALI) de Harvard University. ALI se centra en educar y preparar a l\u00edderes empresariales establecidos para abordar, en su pr\u00f3xima etapa profesional, los desaf\u00edos sociales que el mundo enfrenta. Durante sus dos a\u00f1os como becario ALI (2020-2021), Jorge desarroll\u00f3 y present\u00f3 como proyecto final, el establecimiento de un centro de pensamiento de libre mercado denominado Instituto de Libertad Econ\u00f3mica para Puerto Rico; y, a su vez, se prepar\u00f3 acad\u00e9micamente en las \u00e1reas y los temas a los que se dedicar\u00e1 el Instituto.<\/p>\n<p>La idea de ILE surgi\u00f3 entre empresarios y l\u00edderes del sector privado con una seria preocupaci\u00f3n por la falta de comprensi\u00f3n y valoraci\u00f3n de los principios del libre mercado, para hacer frente a los desaf\u00edos socioecon\u00f3micos de Puerto Rico. Reconocimos que exist\u00eda una necesidad imperiosa de una instituci\u00f3n que tomara el camino menos transitado, para defender pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas econ\u00f3micamente coherentes.
