Dr. Ángel Carrión-Tavárez is an editor, educator, and multidisciplinary researcher. He was founder and editor of the economic and public policy magazine Panorama 21 (published in Spanish, English, and Portuguese); managing editor of the business weekly Caribbean Business; and Editor-in-Chief and President of the Board of the peer-reviewed magazine Fórum Empresarial. He received the “Teodoro Moscoso Special Award for Business Journalism” from the Overseas Press Club in 2006 and the “Unesco Medal of Excellence in Journalism” in 2005. He has been the academic coordinator of the Certificate in Editing and Publishing Arts; a professor of Regional and Business Geography; and the Director of the Center for Business Research and Academic Initiatives, at the University of Puerto Rico.

He has been invited to participate in several international forums, among them: as a speaker at the “Macrorueda de Turismo” (in Bogotá, Colombia) by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism of Colombia; as moderator of the forum “Ibero-America and the University. Where are we and what can we do to strengthen democracy and growth with equality” (in Santander, Spain) by Menéndez Pelayo International University and Grupo Santander; as a lecturer at the “First Fall Scientific-Cultural Congress, the Third Mission of the Public University” (in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico) by the Coast of Jalisco University Center; and as a discussant at the “International Research Conference” (in Dortmund, Germany) by the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

Ángel holds a Ph.D. in Integration and Economic and Territorial Development from Universidad de León (Spain), an M.A. in Humanities from California State University, and a B.A. in Social Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico. In addition, he has completed executive education programs and professional certifications such as “Executive Certificate in Entrepreneurial Mentoring and High Growth Venture” from Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University, “Certificate in Business Resiliency and Innovation” from George Mason University, “Babson Symposium for Entrepreneurship Educators” from Babson College, and “Certificate in the Art and Science of Empathic Translations” from David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University.
